Ripple Announces Major Partnership with BlackRock
Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse made headlines today with an exciting announcement on X. The company has partnered with Securitize, a key player in digital asset infrastructure. This collaboration introduces a smart contract aimed at benefiting holders of BlackRock’s BUILD and VanEck’s VBILL.
Specifically, this partnership allows investors to exchange their shares for Ripple’s stablecoin, RLUSD. According to Garlinghouse, the new smart contract adds “an additional stablecoin off-ramp for BUILD and VBILL tokenized short-term treasury funds.” This innovation enhances liquidity and flexibility for tokenized assets.
Jack McDonald, SVP of Stablecoins at Ripple, emphasized the importance of this advance. He stated, “Making RLUSD available as an exchange option for tokenized funds is a natural next step.” Moreover, he noted that partnerships with trusted platforms like Securitize unlock new liquidity and enterprise-grade use cases.
For context, BUILD and VBILL are tokenized short-term treasury products on public blockchains. With this integration, investors can access a 24/7 stablecoin off-ramp. They can swap their shares for RLUSD instantly, maintaining exposure to on-chain yields and DeFi strategies.
BUILD has already implemented RLUSD support, while VBILL will follow soon. Carlos Domingo, Co-Founder and CEO of Securitize, remarked on the significance of this collaboration. He explained, “Partnering with Ripple to integrate RLUSD is a major step forward in automating liquidity for tokenized assets.”
This innovative move positions Ripple, Securitize, and their partners at the forefront of bridging traditional finance with blockchain technology. As adoption continues, the potential for institutional finance expands, paving the way for new, compliant investment opportunities.
