Why I Continue Paying for YouTube TV Despite Its Rising Costs
YouTube TV has become a staple in my daily routine. I use it not just for live sports, but also for background entertainment while I tackle household chores. However, the ever-increasing price tag troubles me.
Originally launched in 2017 at a competitive $35 per month, YouTube TV’s subscription fees have grown dramatically to $83 in 2025. This represents a staggering 137% increase since its debut. Many have canceled their subscriptions because of these hikes, and I understand why. Yet, I still pay for it each month.
One compelling reason is the sports experience. I found myself diving into college basketball and NFL games over the past few years. YouTube TV enhances this experience with features like a dedicated stats page and key plays for each game. This makes following the action easier and far more enjoyable. Other streaming services may offer similar games, but they lack the engaging tools YouTube TV provides.
Moreover, the NFL Sunday Ticket is a huge draw for sports enthusiasts like me. For about $378 per season, it allows me to catch every NFL game, including dramatic matchups like the recent Vikings vs. Bears overtime thriller. Despite the premium price, the ability to watch every game makes it worthwhile for football fans.
The multiview feature is another standout. It lets me watch multiple games at once—up to four! This functionality has proven invaluable during events like March Madness, where multiple games compete for attention.
Aside from sports, YouTube TV’s app design excels. Its interface is straightforward, offering a clean layout that makes navigation easy. The ability to customize the TV guide adds another level of personalization. Users can prioritize their favorite channels and hide those they seldom watch, enhancing the overall viewing experience.
Traveling is seamless with YouTube TV as well. I’ve used it across the country without issues, thanks to reasonable travel restrictions. A simple confirmation allows me to enjoy my favorite shows, even on the go.
Despite all its strengths, I remain cautious about future price increases. While I appreciate the service, I worry that continued hikes will force me to reconsider my loyalty. I could tolerate a slight increase, but anything beyond that may push me to explore other options.
YouTube TV delivers a great experience for those who prioritize live sports and customizable features. Even with its high price, the advantages keep me subscribed—for now.
