Hyperliquid Crushes Competition with 46% of All Token Buybacks in 2025

Hyperliquid has emerged as a leader in the token buyback space for 2025. According to CoinGecko, the platform committed over $644 million to repurchase its HYPE tokens. This investment accounts for an impressive 46% of all token buybacks this year.

To date, Hyperliquid has repurchased approximately 21.36 million HYPE tokens. This number represents around 2.1% of the total supply. Notably, the platform maintains an average monthly buyback of $65.5 million. These figures show fluctuations, with March totaling $39.14 million, and August peaking at $110.62 million.

For context, LayerZero ranks second in token buybacks, with a one-time purchase of $150 million for its ZRO tokens. This investment bought back 5% of its supply at an average price of $3.00. Unlike LayerZero, Hyperliquid’s ongoing buyback program strengthens its dominant position. Meanwhile, Pump.fun follows in third with $138.17 million spent on buybacks, averaging $40.47 million per month.

Other notable projects, like Raydium, Rollbit, and Bonk.fun, also participate in buyback initiatives. As of now, 28 projects have implemented significant buybacks in 2025. This trend signifies a shift in the industry as companies look for ways to return value to token holders and encourage long-term commitment.

Overall, total token buybacks across the cryptographic landscape have surpassed $1.40 billion this year. Interestingly, Hyperliquid’s strategy not only showcases its commitment to its community but also highlights a broader trend in technology development. Companies increasingly recognize the value in buybacks as a way to enhance market confidence and stabilize prices.

As the crypto market evolves, Hyperliquid sets a remarkable precedent in token management, potentially influencing other projects to adopt similar strategies.
