    Quick Takeaways

    1. Gemini Update Rollout: Gemini for Google Home began rolling out on October 28 but many users, including the author, are still waiting for the update.

    2. Early Access Program: To access Gemini, users must join Google’s early access program via the Google Home app; if you’re not part of it, you’ll miss the update.

    3. Activation Steps: Once enrolled, activate Gemini in the Google Home app by navigating to settings and selecting “Get started,” followed by an onboarding process to customize the experience.

    4. Alternative Access Method: If Gemini still isn’t showing, try accessing it through Google Chrome with the link googlehome://assistant/voice/setup, which may enable the new voice feature.

No Gemini on Your Google Home Speaker? Here’s How to Get It

After rolling out on October 28, Google’s Gemini upgrade is still elusive for many users. If your Google Home speaker is lagging behind on features, don’t worry. You can access the new capabilities today!

First, check if you’ve joined Google’s early access program. Currently, Gemini is available only for users in this program. To confirm your status, open the Google Home app on your phone. Tap your profile picture, navigate to Home settings, and scroll to the bottom to see Early access. If you missed joining, simply follow the prompts to enroll.

Once you’re confirmed, or if you’ve already registered, open the app again. Go to Home settings and look for the Gemini prompt at the top of the screen. Tap “Get started.” Follow the onboarding steps until you reach the upgrade confirmation screen. Here, select your preferred Gemini voice and personalize its response settings for you and your guests.

After completing these steps, your Google Home devices will respond using Gemini. You’ll still see the familiar Google Assistant animation on your Hub, but rest assured, it’s Gemini at work. If you’re curious, ask, “Hey Google, who are you?” to verify the switch.

Still not seeing Gemini? You might have another option. Open Google Chrome on your Android device and enter the URL: googlehome://assistant/voice/setup. This may lead you to the Gemini setup screens, although some users report it might only activate the new voice feature.

If you’re waiting for Gemini, check back often. Google is expected to roll out the upgrade to more users on December 5.

Embrace the innovation of smart technology! Upgrading to Gemini on your Google Home will enhance your digital experience, making your smart city interactions even more efficient. Enjoy the new features and take full advantage of what modern technology has to offer.
