    Summary Points

    1. New 5G RedCap Routers: Semtech Corporation has launched AirLink RX400 and EX400 routers, addressing the need for energy-efficient, future-proof 5G connectivity tailored for industrial and commercial IoT applications.

    2. Power Efficiency: Both routers consume under 1 watt when idle, making them suitable for remote, off-grid deployments previously reliant on LTE or traditional high-power 5G solutions.

    3. Rugged Designs for Diverse Environments: The RX400 is built for harsh outdoor conditions, while the semi-rugged EX400 is designed for retail and agricultural use, catering to varied industrial needs.

    4. Comprehensive Network Management: The routers come with a year of AirLink Complete service, including cloud-based management via ALMS, ensuring secure and scalable operations without stressing IT resources.

Semtech Unveils Innovative 5G RedCap Routers

Semtech Corporation has launched two new AirLink 5G RedCap routers, targeting a vital gap in industrial and commercial Internet of Things (IoT) connectivity. These routers, the RX400 and EX400, offer power-efficient and rugged solutions for real-world IoT applications. With projected global connections exceeding 656 million by 2030, the demand for 5G RedCap technology is accelerating. “5G RedCap provides essential attributes for industrial use, including longevity and cost efficiency,” noted Shobhit Srivastava, a senior analyst at Omdia. This new technology enables organizations to transition from phasing out LTE networks to a more sustainable path in 5G connectivity.

Both routers consume less than 1 watt of power when idle, making them ideal for remote, off-grid locations. They support low-latency and high-throughput capabilities, vital for various IoT applications. With a 2×2 Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) antenna configuration, they simplify integration into current and new networks. Moreover, the RX400 is designed for rugged outdoor conditions, ensuring maximum reliability. Its low power consumption allows for solar-powered operation, crucial for critical infrastructure in remote areas. The EX400, on the other hand, fits commercial IoT scenarios like retail and manufacturing, showcasing versatility in deployment options.

    Key Applications and Management Solutions

The AirLink RX400 and EX400 open new possibilities for 5G deployment across diverse sectors. Their power efficiency supports applications in remote infrastructure monitoring and temporary installations. For example, organizations can implement off-grid supervisory control and advanced metering infrastructures, crucial for energy and utilities.

Each router includes a one-year support package for seamless network management. Organizations can monitor and update router deployments through a cloud-based platform, reducing the workload on IT teams. Additionally, Semtech is enhancing its management options, allowing flexibility in how customers choose to manage their routers.

The AirLink RX400 and EX400 routers are now available for order via authorized partners. For those interested in learning more, Semtech will showcase these products at DistribuTECH 2026 in San Diego, California, from February 2-5. These introductions mark a significant advancement in energy-efficient, rugged connectivity solutions for the growing needs of industrial and commercial IoT.
