Helena Christensen Partners with Gudrun & Gudrun on Knitwear Collection

Fashion icon Helena Christensen has joined forces with the Faroese knitwear brand Gudrun & Gudrun to launch a new knitwear capsule. The collection features seven hand-knitted styles, which blend storytelling with sustainable craftsmanship.

Each item showcases soft colors, such as tender pink, sunlit peach, warm yellow, and earthy green. Furthermore, these hues reflect the changing seasons and celebrate femininity. The silhouettes evoke vintage lingerie vibes through airy, open-knit textures.

“Helena elevated our star sweater from ‘The Killing’ to a fashion statement more than 20 years ago,” said Guðrun Ludvig, co-founder of the brand. This collaboration emphasizes the importance of color, as Christensen excels in pastel palettes. The knitting techniques remain simple to highlight the unique, handmade textures.

The collection debuts today at gudrungudrun.com and select retailers, including New York’s No. 5 Store. Prices range from $450 to $835, making it a more accessible luxury option.

Christensen, a seasoned model and skilled photographer, captures the collection’s essence with French muse Louise Follain in dramatic, windswept landscapes. Christensen remarked on the joy of creating this collection, noting her long admiration for Gudrun & Gudrun and its values. Some items are even hand-knitted by women in Peru, adding a personal touch to the line.

At 57, Christensen remains a prominent figure, being a former Victoria’s Secret Angel and cofounder of Nylon magazine. Her commitment to philanthropy, especially in breast cancer awareness, enhances her profile further.

Since its inception in 2002, Gudrun & Gudrun has focused on sustainability and high-quality handmade knitwear. The brand, recognized for its eco-friendly practices, targets markets in the U.S., Denmark, and Japan. A launch dinner in New York this Wednesday will celebrate the collaboration and its modern take on classic designs.

This partnership exemplifies a growing trend in fashion where technology and sustainability converge. As brands embrace eco-friendly practices, they also harness digital platforms to reach consumers, fostering a balance between style, comfort, and affordability.
