    Summary Points

    1. Blackmagic Camera 3.3 now supports Apple Watch, enabling remote control and monitoring for solo creators within Wi-Fi range.
    2. It includes ATEM camera control, allowing users to operate their iPhone as a broadcast camera via the Blackmagic ProDock with HDMI, USB-C, and other ports.
    3. The update introduces Blackmagic’s “Focus and Zoom Demand” hardware controls, letting users adjust video zoom and focus hands-free during live shoots.
    4. Additional features include ProRes RAW stabilization, bug fixes, and enhancements, making it a powerful tool for professional-quality mobile filmmaking.

Blackmagic Design has taken its popular camera app for iOS to the next level. The new update, version 3.3, introduces a handy companion app for the Apple Watch. This means creators can now control their iPhone camera remotely from their wrist. Thanks to this, solo filmmakers and vloggers can start, stop, and adjust settings without touching their phone, making filming more flexible.

The Watch app is easy to set up. After installing it on the iPhone, it automatically syncs with the watch. Users can zoom in, change the frame rate, white balance, and ISO with a tap. Although the small watch screen isn’t perfect for focusing, it offers a convenient way to monitor framing.

Another exciting feature is compatibility with Blackmagic’s ATEM Mini switcher. When paired with the $420 ProDock, the iPhone becomes a portable broadcast camera. Connecting via HDMI, users can control the camera’s focus, zoom, and recording settings even during live streams. They also get access to advanced color correction tools, ideal for professional-quality broadcasts.

For more control, Blackmagic added “Focus and Zoom Demand” knobs. When used with the iPhone and ProDock, these handles allow precise adjustments on the tripod, perfect for studio shoots or live events. It’s a neat way to turn an iPhone into a full broadcast tool.

The update also brings ProRes RAW stabilization and various bug fixes. Overall, Blackmagic Camera for iOS now offers more tools for creative, on-the-go filming. With features like remote control and professional connection options, it highlights how mobile devices can support smart city projects and urban innovation. As cities grow smarter, such tools help residents and creators produce content more efficiently and creatively. The app is free on the Apple App Store.
