    Fast Facts

    1. Organizational latency limits corporations: middle management mainly coordinates and translates decision-making, but now this layer can be replaced by software protocols as AI advances.
    2. Agents evolve from cost centers to revenue-generating units capable of autonomous decision-making, reshaping company structures and priorities.
    3. Future companies will deploy decentralized swarms of specialized agents, replacing traditional hierarchies with fast, protocol-driven interactions and mechanisms.
    4. The key to competitive advantage will shift from advanced models to the development of high-performance, bare-metal execution infrastructure that enables rapid agent coordination.

    The Human Bottleneck in Business

Many companies face a slow decision process. Humans are high-latency routers, meaning it takes time to coordinate tasks across departments. When markets shift, companies often wait days or weeks to react. This delay happens because of meetings, emails, and cognitive biases. Most middle management does not make decisions directly; instead, they translate strategies into actions. However, technology is beginning to change this. With the rise of software, organizations can reduce these delays. Software can act as a more efficient routing protocol, speeding up the flow of decisions. This shift suggests the possibility of replacing some management layers with intelligent systems.

    Transforming Money and Management

Autonomous software agents are changing how companies handle revenue. Currently, AI tools are seen as expensive helpers. Yet, they are increasingly managing their own budgets. For example, trading firms have used autonomous systems for years to make profit. Now, other industries, like retail, also automate tasks such as re-pricing items or reordering inventory. As reasoning models evolve, they will make even bigger decisions. Given enough tools and oversight, these agents could become profit centers themselves. They may operate with budget authority, making decisions without human intervention. This evolution blurs the line between software and business units.

The New Model of Corporate Control

Future organizations may resemble decentralized swarms of specialized agents. These agents would communicate directly, without meetings or roadmaps. For instance, a marketing agent could decide to bid for advertising funds automatically. Resources would flow based on potential return, not quarterly reports. Instead of traditional management, protocols would govern coordination. This approach reduces the need for middle managers, who would instead function as mechanisms in a software system. However, this new structure raises legal and safety questions. To address liabilities, organizations will need strict governance layers. Only with reliable safeguards can autonomous agents confidently make critical financial decisions. The shift toward wire-speed cooperation marks a fundamental change in how companies operate.
