For example, bicarbonate levels could reach the upper healthy limit within about 50 years if current trends continue. Since humans evolved in environments with lower CO2 levels, these changes could challenge our natural balance. While the study does not prove cause and effect, experts suggest it’s important to watch these trends as part of climate and health policy.
