Rocket Lab Launches New Satellites for Kinéis Constellation

Mahia, New Zealand – Rocket Lab USA achieved a significant milestone with the launch of its 59th Electron mission. On February 9, at 9:43 AM NZDT, the company successfully deployed five satellites into Low Earth Orbit. This mission supports the French Internet of Things (IoT) constellation operated by Kinéis.

Moreover, this launch marked Rocket Lab’s first Electron mission of 2025 and Kinéis’s fourth deployment to date. Founder and CEO Peter Beck expressed enthusiasm about the progress. He stated that deploying the full Kinéis constellation in under a year is impressive. Beck emphasized, “Once again, Electron has shown its strength as a pinpoint accurate constellation launcher.”

In addition, Michel Sarthou, the Chief Technology Officer of Kinéis, applauded the accomplishment. He noted that producing and launching 25 nanosatellites in just eight months is a remarkable achievement. Sarthou added, “This milestone showcases the expertise and determination of our teams and partners like Rocket Lab.” He reiterated Kinéis’s commitment to global IoT coverage.

The Kinéis constellation aims to connect and locate objects worldwide. It enables near-real-time data transmission while consuming very little energy. For instance, this technology could significantly aid in forest fire detection, water resource management, and logistics tracking.

Looking ahead, Rocket Lab plans to announce the launch date for the fifth Kinéis mission in the coming weeks. Additionally, another Electron launch is scheduled for February. Details about the specific launch window and customer will follow soon.
