    Essential Insights

    1. Screen Mirroring Change: The option to screen mirror a Samsung TV to a Galaxy phone has been removed from the Quick Settings Smart View panel in One UI 7.

    2. New Method via SmartThings: Users must now utilize the SmartThings app to mirror content from a Samsung TV to a Galaxy phone, featuring an improved Smart View menu.

    3. Update Rollout: One UI 7 is being gradually rolled out to eligible Galaxy devices, bringing enhancements alongside the new, more complex mirroring process.

    4. User Inconvenience: The removal of the mirroring option from Quick Settings has made the feature less convenient for users, creating frustration over the unnecessary complication.

One UI 7 Complicates Samsung Phone to TV Mirroring

Samsung’s latest update, One UI 7, has made screen mirroring between Galaxy phones and Samsung TVs more complicated. Initially, users could easily access the Smart View panel in Quick Settings to connect their devices. This feature allowed seamless mirroring both from the phone to the TV and vice versa.

Now, the functionality has changed. Users can no longer mirror their TV screens to Galaxy phones directly from Quick Settings. Instead, they must navigate through the SmartThings app. This new method involves selecting the TV, tapping on the Featured tab, and then accessing the Smart View option. While the Smart View menu is improved, the extra steps may frustrate many users.

This change raises questions about usability. Why was the option removed from Quick Settings? Although the improved Smart View menu enhances some aspects of functionality, it appears to complicate an otherwise straightforward process.

Despite this hiccup, One UI 7 does offer various enhancements overall. As users adapt, they may discover new features that could enhance their experience. For now, however, many will miss the simplicity of the previous setup.
