Honda and Acura EV Owners Gain Access to Tesla Supercharger Network
Honda and Acura electric vehicle owners can now charge their cars at Tesla Superchargers. This access comes with the launch of the Honda-approved NACS-CCS DC fast-charging adapter. The adapter enables Honda Prologue and Acura ZDX drivers to tap into Tesla’s extensive network of over 23,500 charging stations.
Ryan Harty, assistant vice president of Sustainability and Business Development at American Honda Motor Company, emphasized the importance of this development. He said, “Combined with other growing charging networks, Honda and Acura EV drivers now have added peace of mind with a wider range of dependable DC fast charging options nationwide.”
Currently, Honda and Acura offer just one fully electric model each. However, this advancement sets the stage for future electric models to utilize the Supercharger network. Additionally, Prologue and ZDX drivers will see Tesla Supercharger locations integrated into their built-in Google Maps for seamless navigation.
Upon arrival at a Supercharger, drivers will use the Tesla app to start charging. Meanwhile, Honda is developing integration with HondaLink and Acura EV apps for direct charging capabilities.
Customers can purchase the adapter from authorized Honda and Acura dealerships in the U.S. or online. The retail price is set at $225.
This collaboration marks a pivotal moment for electric vehicle adoption. As smart cities continue to expand, broader access to charging infrastructure enhances convenience for drivers. It encourages a transition to sustainable transportation and supports urban innovation initiatives.
