Schneider Electric Unveils New AI Patent to Enhance Process Safety

Schneider Electric has recently announced a groundbreaking patent that introduces artificial intelligence (AI) to process safety. This innovation aims to help reduce hazards in industrial environments. The technology automatically and semi-automatically analyzes potential hazards while validating safety protection mechanisms.

With industries increasingly adopting digital transformations, leveraging AI offers significant advantages. The EcoStruxure Triconex Safety team developed this latest patent, which can identify potential risks and necessary safeguards within various processes. This capability allows for real-time analysis using high-quality data, ultimately aiding in the prevention of industrial accidents.

Chris Stogner, senior director of offer management at Schneider Electric, stated, “We are the first to push this boundary of automating the hazard process analysis with artificial intelligence.” Stogner believes that integrating AI into functional safety will enhance Hazard and Operability (HAZOP) studies. As a result, the technology can generate more combinations of potential scenarios than previously possible.

Moreover, this patent represents a commitment to improving functional safety through AI. With the ability to simulate various hazard conditions, the new process hazard analysis tool can proactively generate safety measures. Currently, Schneider Electric has three additional pending patents focused on integrating AI into the functional safety lifecycle.

This innovation arrives amid a growing demand for advanced safety measures in industrial automation. By combining human expertise with AI techniques, industries aim to significantly reduce hazardous situations. For more updates, follow @IoTNow_ on X or visit the IoT Now homepage.
