Nothing Phones Introduce Call Recording Feature, but Only for Select Models

London-based phone maker Nothing has announced a significant update for some of its latest handsets. Starting today, select models will gain the ability to record voice calls. This new feature, dubbed Essential Space, enhances user experience by allowing easy call management.

Users can activate the recording feature in two straightforward ways. They can either long-press the Essential Key or tap “Start recording” from a notification that appears at the top of the screen. Once a call ends, recordings will save directly in Essential Space for easy access later.

Notably, this feature will not be available for all Nothing devices. At launch, only the Phone 3, Phone 3a, and Phone 3a Pro will support call recording. Additionally, the rollout occurs in select countries, including the UK, India, Japan, South Korea, the Philippines, Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia. However, Nothing indicates plans to expand this feature to more markets in the future.

In a bid to simplify the update process, Nothing ensures users will receive this feature automatically. Therefore, there’s no need for a manual update. This likely means the upgrade stems from a server-side change to the Essential Space app.

The introduction of call recording could enhance the functionality of smartphones, especially in urban settings where communication needs often vary. As smart technologies grow more integrated in daily life, such features promote better management of connections. With planned expansions in mind, Nothing is poised to meet evolving consumer demands across more regions.
