By merging technical expertise with public policy, she seeks to create effective solutions for real-world energy challenges.

    While pursuing her PhD, she co-founded Climate Change AI, a nonprofit that connects various stakeholders in the climate sector. This initiative fosters collaboration among scientists, policymakers, and practitioners, providing crucial resources for effective climate action.

    Transforming Energy Systems

    At MIT, she employs deep learning models to enhance forecasting and control in energy systems. This approach not only optimizes power grid operations but does so with cost efficiency. Her innovative solutions have drawn interest from grid operators, promising faster and cheaper methods for energy management.

    Moreover, her team is developing synthetic data to address privacy issues within energy systems. This data aims to reveal and solve underlying efficiency problems. “Can we bring our datasets to a point such that they are just hard enough to drive progress?” she questions thoughtfully.

    Empowering the Next Generation

    In spring, Donti will co-teach a course titled “AI for Climate Action,” collaborating with experts in AI for biodiversity and Earth sciences. They are excited about the opportunity to empower students to leverage technology for sustainable solutions.

    Donti’s journey reflects a blend of passion and innovation, proving that technology can play a crucial role in combating climate change. “We’re really thinking about where technology has a much longer-horizon impact,” she states, emphasizing the need for integrated approaches in addressing societal challenges.
