    Top Highlights

    1. Enhanced Call Recording: With iOS 26, Apple introduces advanced call recording features, including transcripts, Live Translation, and summaries, making it ideal for interviews and important discussions.

    2. Availability & Consent: Call recording is region-dependent; users must ensure it’s supported in their area and obtain consent from the other party before recording.

    3. Transcription & Summaries: Users can transcribe recorded calls and access generated summaries for quick highlights, allowing efficient management of call details through the Notes app.

    4. Alternative Recording Methods: If the built-in feature isn’t available, alternatives like Rev Call Recorder and Google Voice offer reliable options, while external recorders and speakerphone setups provide additional solutions.

How to Record a Phone Call on an iPhone

Apple’s iOS 26 has made recording phone calls easier and more versatile. This feature now includes transcripts, live translation, and summaries, enhancing its usefulness for interviews and important discussions.

First, check if this feature is available in your region. Apple maintains a list of areas where call recording is not permitted, including the European Union and South Africa. If your country is on that list, the option won’t appear in the Phone app.

Before recording, remember to obtain consent from the other party. When you start the recording, both participants hear a notification.

Recording a call is simple. During the conversation, tap the “More” button. The iPhone automatically saves the audio once you hang up or choose to stop recording. You can find all recordings in the “Call Recordings” folder within the Notes app.

To manage your recordings, open Notes and navigate to the folder. You can easily play, search, copy, save, share, or delete recordings from this section. If your region supports it, iOS 26 can also transcribe calls. Just open a recording and tap “Show Transcript and Summary.” This function processes the conversation, breaking it down by speaker, making it easy to review.

Moreover, Apple’s Intelligence feature generates a summary of your call. This lets you focus on key points, such as action items from meetings.

If call recording isn’t supported in your area, you still have options. In the U.S., federal law allows recording with one-party consent, meaning you can record as long as you’re on the call. However, always check your local laws first.

Apps like Rev Call Recorder provide a free solution, allowing you to record without ads or time limits. Google Voice also offers a way to record incoming calls but requires you to press “4” during the conversation.

If you prefer offline methods, use an external recorder connected via USB-C or Lightning. Alternatively, you can activate speakerphone mode and record the call with another device using the Voice Memos app.

With these tools, recording calls on your iPhone can help streamline your communication needs, ensuring you never miss important details. Enjoy the benefits of this modern technology and elevate your conversation experience!
