    2. Successful Initial Testing: After six months of testing, nearly two million users have utilized the service for texting in off-grid locations and during extreme weather events, helping thousands to connect during crises like the LA fires and Texas floods.

    3. Compatibility and Accessibility: T-Satellite supports texting on both Android and iOS devices and offers optimized app access, including popular services like WhatsApp and AccuWeather, with free use for T-Mobile Experience Beyond subscribers and a $10/month fee for others.

T-Mobile’s Starlink Satellite Service Launches After Testing

T-Mobile has officially rolled out its satellite-to-mobile service, T-Satellite. After months of testing, the service connects smartphones to over 650 low-Earth orbit satellites. This innovation reaches areas far beyond traditional network coverage.

In just six months, nearly two million people have used T-Satellite. Users have successfully sent texts from remote trails and off-the-grid job sites. Notably, the service proved essential during emergencies. For example, over 410,000 individuals reached out to loved ones during the LA fires, while nearly 94,000 contacted family and friends after recent Texas floods.

T-Satellite supports texting on both Android and iOS devices. Additionally, several popular apps, including Google, AllTrails, and WhatsApp, have been optimized for satellite use.

T-Mobile Experience Beyond subscribers gain access to T-Satellite at no extra cost. Others can enjoy the service for $10 per month. Furthermore, non-subscribers will be able to contact 911 for free later this year.

Interestingly, users from other networks, such as AT&T and Verizon, can also access the service with a subscription. This opens up new possibilities for connectivity in smart cities and supports urban innovation.

With T-Satellite, T-Mobile aims to bridge the communication gap in underserved areas, fostering safety, connection, and resilience during critical times.
