    "Participation in the air show allows us to share NASA’s work," noted a STEM Engagement manager. This initiative connects researchers and engineers with students, fostering curiosity about aeronautics.

    Throughout the event, Langley’s team engaged with visitors in the STEM Expo. Attendees tested paper helicopters in a wind tunnel, learned about X-planes, and designed their experimental airplanes. These hands-on experiences illustrated the engineering design process. Experts guided students, promoting a range of STEM career paths and sparking interest in future innovations.

    "Authentic learning experiences help build children’s STEM identity," the manager emphasized. These connections enhance the likelihood of pursuing careers in these essential fields.

    Static displays included NASA Langley’s Cirrus Design SR22, an aircraft supporting various research programs. A director highlighted the longstanding partnership with Joint Base Langley-Eustis, emphasizing a shared history that began in 1917. Their ongoing collaboration aims to advance solutions to complex challenges in aeronautics.

    Visitors also explored unmanned aircraft systems and NASA’s P-3 Orion, based at Wallops Flight Facility. A picture display illustrated Langley’s rich aviation history, tracing milestones from its founding to its current research efforts.
