Oura’s Smart Ring Enhances Activity Tracking Capabilities

Oura has made significant strides in activity tracking for Gen3 and Ring 4 users. The latest updates bring a new trend view for active minutes. Users can now see their activity levels across days, weeks, or even months. This feature helps individuals understand their exercise patterns better.

Furthermore, Oura introduced the option to add a maximum heart rate. This adjustment allows the smart ring to tailor heart rate zones accurately. Notably, users can now manually add or edit activities for the past week, offering greater flexibility. Additionally, the ring now imports heart rate data from partner integrations, including Apple HealthKit and Android’s Health Connect.

The Automatic Activity Detection feature has received a critical update. It now tracks movements throughout the night, even from midnight to 4 a.m. This advancement ensures users capture all their activities, regardless of when they occur.

Oura also improved step counting accuracy. With a new machine-learning model, the device reduces average daily step count error by an impressive 61 percent. This upgrade enhances the reliability of fitness data. Moreover, Oura revamped its Active Calorie burn feature, now factoring in heart rate during workouts. Users can access more detailed insights into their runs and walks, thanks to GPS integration from their phones.

These updates are currently available for iOS users. However, Android users will have to wait until June for the new fitness metrics and trend view.

In addition, Oura announced partnerships with various third-party platforms. Now, users can link their smart ring with CorePower Yoga, Sculpt Society, Technogym, and Open. These collaborations allow users to track yoga sessions and create personalized recovery rituals based on their biometrics.

With these advancements, Oura underscores its commitment to enhancing fitness tracking and supporting users in their health journeys.
