Valorant Upgrades: Replays and Unreal Engine 5

Valorant is set to receive significant enhancements. As the game nears its five-year anniversary, developers announced the highly anticipated replay feature. This addition allows players to revisit past matches. Users can view games from any player’s perspective or utilize a free-roaming camera. Initially, replays will be available on PC starting with patch 11.06 in September, with console access expected later this year.

In addition to the replay feature, Valorant will upgrade to Unreal Engine 5. This migration, occurring with patch 11.02 at the end of July, promises improved frame rates and faster patch downloads. The developers claim this transition will maintain the familiar gameplay experience. However, it also opens the door to new possibilities in the future.

Competitive players will welcome new measures against smurfing. Smurfing, where high-ranked players use lower-tier accounts to dominate less skilled opponents, poses challenges in fair play. To combat this, Valorant will require suspicious accounts to undergo multi-factor authentication. The game plans to broaden this requirement for all competitive players later in the year. Furthermore, users can now report suspected smurfers more effectively by selecting a specific "Rank/Matchmaking Abuse" category.

The recent update also hints at gameplay balancing changes for character abilities and teases a new competitive map. These improvements highlight the Valorant team’s commitment to enhancing player experience and maintaining fairness in competitive play. With these upgrades, Valorant aims to evolve within the esports landscape while retaining its core community.
