    2. Successful Releases: The studio created successful titles like Squid Game: Unleashed, which gained over ten million downloads.

Netflix Shutters Studio Behind ‘Squid Game’ Mobile Spin-Off

Netflix has reportedly closed Boss Fight Entertainment, the studio responsible for the popular mobile game Squid Game: Unleashed. The decision surprised many, especially since the game achieved over ten million downloads on the Google Play Store after launching alongside the second season of the hit series.

Staffers shared news of the closure via LinkedIn. The game garnered attention, especially after a significant software update timed with the release of the show’s third season. Despite its success, Netflix’s move marks a challenging chapter for its gaming division.

About 80 employees worked at Boss Fight Entertainment. Currently, it remains uncertain if they will face layoffs or shifts to different roles within Netflix. Design director Damion Schubert expressed disappointment on LinkedIn, emphasizing the lost potential of unreleased projects that will never see the light of day.

This closure follows Netflix’s earlier decision to shut down Team Blue, another gaming studio that attracted talent from major companies like Blizzard and Bungie. The industry watches closely as Netflix re-evaluates its gaming strategy, leaving fans wondering what innovations might still come from the streaming giant.
