DOHA, Qatar — The desert air shimmered with glamour on Saturday night as Fashion Trust Arabia (FTA) hosted a dazzling ceremony at the National Museum of Qatar. This event attracted a wide array of celebrities, artists, and luxury leaders eager to celebrate emerging designers.

Adrien Brody mingled with Lindsay Lohan and Emma Roberts, while Juliette Binoche exchanged greetings with Regina King. Gisele Bündchen, invited by Sheikha Mayassa, worked the room before presenting the Fashion Tech Award. “Everything she puts together is excellent,” Bündchen remarked, praising both the event and the city.

This year marked the seventh edition of FTA, with over 1,200 applicants competing for seven awards in categories like ready-to-wear and accessories. Queen Latifah and Egyptian actor Aiman Kaissouni hosted the evening, with co-chairs Sheikha Mayassa and Tania Fares welcoming guests. “It’s a place where past and future meet,” Sheikha Mayassa stated, reflecting on the museum’s stunning architecture.

During her speech, Sheikha Mayassa expressed gratitude for FTA’s influence. She highlighted that Rama Duwaji wore Palestinian-Jordanian designer Zeid Hijazi on election night, showcasing the awareness FTA has created.

Winners this year included Youssef Drissi for ready-to-wear and Ziyad Buainain for eveningwear. Alaa Alaradi earned the Franca Sozzani Debut Talent Award, and the Fashion Tech Award went to sisters Fatema and Dalal Alkhaja. A high-profile jury, featuring names like Amina Muaddi and Christian Louboutin, selected the winners.

Miuccia Prada received the Lifetime Achievement Award, prompting an emotional tribute from Sheikha Mayassa. “The Prada universe was built on culture, not trends,” she noted. Prada, known for her openness to collaboration, kept her remarks brief, expressing appreciation for FTA’s role in cultural exchange.

Zuhair Murad was honored with the Trailblazer Award, establishing his influence on global fashion. François-Henri Pinault announced that Kering would now support the Franca Sozzani award with personalized mentorship for the winner.

The event also showcased the intersection of film and fashion. Actresses Pom Klementieff and Golshifteh Farahani attended, while Cristiano Ronaldo’s partner, Georgina Rodríguez, turned heads on the red carpet. Renowned makeup artist Sir John prepared guests for their moment under the lights.

Chaka Khan closed the night with a vibrant performance following an earlier set by Palestinian-Chilean artist Saint Levant. For many winners, this evening symbolized validation on an international scale. Saudi designer Ziyad Albuainain shared his excitement, noting the journey from his living room to the gala stage.

The night demonstrated how design, technology, and culture can flourish together. As innovation progresses, events like these showcase not only emerging talent but also the potential for growth in the global fashion landscape.
