Rivian Rolls Out New Apple Watch App for Vehicle Control

Rivian has launched an innovative Apple Watch app designed for its electric vehicle owners. The app empowers users to take control of their R1S and R1T models directly from their wrists. With this new capability, vehicle owners can leave their phones at home and still manage various functions of their EVs.

For instance, users can unlock and lock doors, activate the vehicle’s alarm, and even vent the windows with a simple tap. Additionally, the app offers a passive car key feature. This allows Gen 2 owners to unlock their vehicles automatically as they approach.

The app also enables drivers to adjust cabin temperatures and set charging levels. Users can do this conveniently by turning the digital crown on the watch. They can also customize the app by selecting four quick controls and adding a battery status indicator to their watch face.

Rivian plans to enhance the app with future updates, showcasing its commitment to continuous innovation. The new app builds on Rivian’s previous support for digital car keys, which included Apple, Google Pixel, and Samsung devices.

Smart cities require adaptable technology, and Rivian’s initiative exemplifies how urban innovation can simplify transportation. By incorporating wearable technology into vehicle management, Rivian improves convenience and promotes a connected lifestyle. This development highlights a progressive shift toward seamless interactions between people and their vehicles, showcasing the potential of technology in modern urban settings.
