Kerlink Launches Next-Generation Gateway for Remote Areas
Kerlink, a global leader in IoT solutions, has introduced the new Wirnet iStation M2 gateway. This device offers better performance and more features than previous models. It works well in remote places like mines and islands, where connectivity has been difficult. The gateway also supports smart city, smart metering, and environmental projects. Kerlink aims to make IoT more accessible everywhere. This new gateway is part of a bigger move toward edge computing, where data is processed close to devices instead of faraway servers.
Yann Bauduin, Kerlink’s chief sales officer, said the gateway helps bring reliable IoT connections to isolated areas. He added that it’s energy-efficient and perfect for tough environments. The design encourages scalable and dependable IoT deployment in outdoor locations.
Innovative Features Boost Market Reach
The Wirnet iStation M2 is made in France and responds to market needs for energy independence and edge computing. It can run on solar power, consuming less than 1.8 watts. Kerlink offers a solar kit that allows the gateway to operate for up to 10 days without sunlight, ensuring year-round availability even in bad weather. It also has improved radio technology with faster modulation and twice the number of demodulators, supporting more devices and higher message speeds.
The device’s connectivity options include four internal antennas for cellular, GNSS, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth, plus an external LoRa antenna. It supports backhaul connections through 4G, 5G, Wi-Fi, or Ethernet. The built-in CPU and upgraded RAM allow it to process data locally, reducing delays and bandwidth costs. Additional features include security measures like SecureBoot, encrypted links, and compliance with EU standards. Kerlink provides a lifetime guarantee and compatibility with popular network providers. As a result, the Wirnet iStation M2 is poised to expand IoT capabilities in challenging environments.
