    Microsoft Invests in Thailand’s AI Future

    Microsoft announced plans to invest over US$1 billion in Thailand’s cloud and AI infrastructure from 2026 to 2028. This move shows the company’s strong commitment to supporting Thailand’s tech growth. During a visit to Bangkok, top officials discussed how this investment will boost public services, businesses, and the overall economy.

    Leading the Way with AI and Government

    Microsoft’s Vice Chair and President, Brad Smith, spoke at an AI policy forum. He emphasized that governments should lead in AI adoption to serve their citizens better. Smith compared AI to electricity, highlighting its importance for future development. He urged policymakers to promote fair access to AI technology, so economic gaps don’t widen between countries. Additionally, Smith shared steps for successfully bringing AI into public services, such as testing and training staff to work alongside AI tools.

    Strengthening E-Commerce with AI

    Microsoft partnered with Thai e-commerce platform aCommerce and AI company Ai-ssistance. They signed a grant to explore using Microsoft’s AI and cloud technology for online shopping. The project aims to develop smarter sales tools, automated content creation, and shopping assistants. If successful, this innovation could expand to neighboring countries like Indonesia and Malaysia, making Thailand a hub for AI-powered business growth.

    Transforming Thailand’s Digital Economy

    During his visit, Smith met with Thai officials and business leaders to discuss building a stronger digital workforce. They agreed to focus on improving AI skills, supporting startups, and making digital access fair for all. They also talked about how AI can be integrated into education, helping teachers and students prepare for future jobs. This collaboration aims to keep Thailand competitive in Asia’s fast-growing AI economy.
