Experts believe AI can scan large amounts of health records quickly. It can identify people who are at high risk of developing serious liver problems. For example, AI can review lab reports and hospital visits to find patterns that indicate early liver damage. Early detection is crucial because, at this stage, lifestyle changes such as diet, exercise, and reducing alcohol can reverse damage. AI can prioritize who needs testing, saving time and resources for healthcare workers and patients alike.

    Balancing Innovation and Practical Use

    Even though simple tests exist to assess liver health, they are not used as often as they should be. Tests like the Fib-4 index and enhanced fibrosis test can help doctors find serious liver scarring early. These tests are helpful but can add extra work for busy doctors. That’s where AI could make a difference. When AI runs in the background, it can identify risk factors without needing additional steps from healthcare providers. This makes screening more practical and affordable. As technology advances, more doctors may adopt AI tools, leading to earlier diagnoses and better outcomes. Ultimately, combining AI with existing tests could give many people a better chance to reverse liver damage before it becomes life-threatening.
