    Fossil Evidence Could Change How We See Troodon

    The latest fossils include bones from five specimens found in Montana. They range from an embryo to a fully grown adult, giving a complete growth series. The fossils mostly contain the hips and hind legs, but that’s enough to verify Troodon’s features. In fact, many scientists have already used this new material to include Troodon in dinosaur family trees. The fossils reveal that young Troodons had longer legs than adults, which suggests they moved fast and covered distance easily. Bones from different ages show how Troodon grew and changed, offering a valuable reference to distinguish it from similar species.

    Having detailed fossils makes identifying Troodon easier for scientists everywhere. This helps research on dinosaur diversity and evolution, especially during the Cretaceous period, about 100 million years ago. The findings also show how Troodon grew quickly, with some bones enlarging more slowly as they matured. Injuries on some foot bones hint that Troodon was active and likely moved around a lot.
