    Fast Facts

    1. Anbernic’s new RG Rotate is a unique square-shaped retro gaming handheld with a swiveling 1:1 display, reminiscent of vintage Sidekicks.
    2. It runs on Android, features an aluminum alloy frame, and is available in Polar Black and Aurora Silver.
    3. The device has a proprietary ultra-thin, durable hinge, with customizable swappable shoulder buttons (L2 and R2).
    4. The RG Rotate will likely be more affordable than competitors, but details like pricing and features such as an audio jack remain unannounced.

Anbernic, a well-known maker of retro gaming handhelds, has announced an exciting new device. The company revealed the RG Rotate on its YouTube channel, showcasing a switch from traditional designs. Unlike most handhelds, the RG Rotate features a swiveling 1:1 display. This unique screen can tilt outward, similar to the classic T-Mobile Sidekick, offering new ways to play and view games.

The device is built with durability in mind. It has a sleek aluminum alloy frame available in Polar Black and Aurora Silver. Anbernic’s video showed a special ultra-thin hinge that underwent rigorous testing. This hinge uses proprietary alloy technology to balance flexibility and strength, a challenge for engineers but promising in performance.

In addition to its innovative screen, the RG Rotate includes adjustable shoulder buttons. Swappable L2 and R2 buttons allow players to customize their gaming experience. Furthermore, the handheld runs on Android, making it versatile for different games and apps.

However, some fans noted the device might have only one USB-C port, which could be disappointing for those wanting an audio jack. Prices have not been announced yet, but experts expect it to cost less than similar premium devices from competitors like Ayn or Retroid.

This device’s launch highlights how innovation in retro gaming can also inspire smarter city designs. Just as this handheld combines creativity with durability, urban environments can benefit from innovative solutions that make cities more connected, efficient, and enjoyable for everyone.
