    Fast Facts

    1. Apple is testing up to four different styles of smart glasses, including large rectangular, slim rectangular, oval/circular, and small oval designs, with multiple color options.
    2. The glasses, code-named N50, aim to compete with Meta’s second-gen Ray-Ban Meta model but will feature unique design elements like vertically oriented oval lenses with surrounding lights.
    3. Functionality includes capturing photos/videos, seamless iPhone integration, and features like editing, sharing, calls, notifications, music, and Siri enhancements, potentially launching alongside iOS 27.
    4. The smart glasses may be announced by late 2026 or early 2027, with an official release in 2027, positioning Apple as a major player in the evolving smart glasses market.

Apple is reportedly testing four different styles for its upcoming smart glasses. While the company is late to the market, it appears to be covering all its bases with diverse designs. According to Bloomberg, Apple is exploring options such as a large rectangular frame similar to Ray-Ban Wayfarers. It also has a slimmer rectangular style like the glasses that CEO Tim Cook wears. Additionally, testers include a larger oval or circular frame, along with a smaller oval or circle option.

The company is working on a variety of colors, including black, ocean blue, and light brown. Known internally as N50, the new glasses will likely compete directly with Meta’s second-generation Ray-Ban model. However, Apple aims to stand out by adding features like vertically oriented oval lenses with surrounding lights.

Like Meta’s glasses, Apple’s device will capture photos and videos. However, it will integrate better with an iPhone. Users can expect seamless access to Apple’s ecosystem for editing, sharing, phone calls, notifications, music, and Siri. The possible launch could happen as soon as late 2026 or early 2027. Apple’s release might also align with the launch of an improved Siri feature arriving with iOS 27.

Ultimately, smart glasses hold promise for making urban life smarter and more connected. They could enhance navigation, communication, and daily tasks in future smart cities. As tech evolves, these devices may help create more innovative, efficient neighborhoods for everyone.
