    Summary Points

    1. Demonstrate ownership by taking responsibility beyond your role, as this skill is highly valued in the AI-driven job market.
    2. Practice constructive disagreement to showcase your analytical thinking and teamwork skills, avoiding defensiveness or conformity.
    3. Volunteer in relevant spaces to build genuine connections and gain real experience, which often leads to networking opportunities.
    4. Build a portfolio (GitHub, personal website, case studies) to prove your work and passion, making a stronger impression than a traditional CV.

    Take Responsibility and Show Initiative

In today’s job market, taking care of things matters most. It’s about handling responsibilities, even when no one asks you to. When you see a task, find a way to complete it. This shows you are dependable and proactive. AI tools can handle many tasks, but they can’t own an entire project from start to finish. By managing projects end-to-end, you become more valuable. You can practice this skill everywhere—at school, volunteering, or at home. Take on big tasks and do them well. This approach makes you stand out and shows employers you can lead and follow through.

Practice Constructive Disagreement and Build Relationships

Being a good team member isn’t just about agreeing with others. It’s about sharing ideas respectfully and debating ideas productively. During interviews, I look for candidates who can disagree without being difficult. I ask questions that challenge their thinking. If they can express their opinions clearly and listen to others, that’s a good sign. Learning to disagree well indicates good communication skills. Plus, volunteering and participating in group activities teach you how to give and receive feedback. Building these skills helps you connect with people and grow professionally over time.

Create a Visible Portfolio and Work with AI Smartly

Your online work shows what you can do—more than a resume ever can. Whether it’s a GitHub profile, a personal website, or writing articles, sharing real projects proves your skills. Employers want to see actual work, not just claims. For non-technical roles, case studies or blog posts work well. Also, learn to use AI tools wisely. Know when to trust the outputs and when to question them. Treat AI as a team member that supports your judgement. By working closely with AI, you turn it into an asset. In a competitive market, demonstrating these skills helps you get noticed and hired more easily.
