    1. D-Wave Quantum has launched on-premises advantage quantum computing systems for purchase by research centres, academic institutions, and governments, enabling advanced quantum experimentation and development.

    2. Forschungszentrum Jülich (FZJ) becomes the first HPC centre globally to acquire a D-Wave advantage quantum system, expected to drive progress in AI and quantum simulation.

    3. The new systems feature over 5,000 qubits, 15-way connectivity, tailored pricing, and include installation, calibration, and maintenance, enhancing integration with existing classical systems.

    4. D-Wave’s "Quantum Uplift" program offers incentives for organizations dissatisfied with competitor systems, highlighting D-Wave’s commitment to providing high-performance, reliable quantum computing solutions.

D-Wave Launches On-Premises Quantum Systems to Enhance Research

Vancouver, Canada — D-Wave Quantum, a leader in quantum computing technology, has launched a new line of on-premises Advantage quantum computing systems. This initiative aims to help research centers, academic institutions, and governments propel their quantum and artificial intelligence (AI) studies.

In a significant milestone, D-Wave announced that Forschungszentrum Jülich (FZJ) is the first high-performance computing (HPC) center in the world to acquire an Advantage quantum system. This acquisition represents a major step in driving advanced research and breakthroughs in diverse fields such as AI and quantum simulation.

Notably, D-Wave’s Advantage systems, which feature more than 5,000 qubits and 15-way connectivity, allow customers to own and operate quantum technology onsite. This offering includes shipping, installation, calibration, and continuous maintenance to ensure peak performance. Additionally, customers can set up local hybrid quantum solvers tailored to their needs.

Furthermore, D-Wave’s vice president of infrastructure, Irwan Owen, leads the marketing efforts for these systems. The company also introduced the “Quantum Uplift” program, targeting organizations unhappy with their current quantum systems. This program provides incentives for those seeking to switch to D-Wave’s highly reliable and performant systems.

Alan Baratz, CEO of D-Wave, emphasized the importance of integrating annealing quantum computing with HPC. He stated, “We will see significant progress in quantum research and quantum AI development, leading to new discoveries and improved outcomes.” His optimism reflects a growing trend where organizations recognize the potential of quantum computing to tackle complex problems, especially as AI technology advances.

Recent findings from Hyperion Research indicate a rising demand for on-premises quantum computers, particularly in HPC environments. Nearly 20% of surveyed organizations prioritize onsite quantum infrastructure for enhanced control, security, and immediacy.

In conclusion, D-Wave’s new offerings not only position the company at the forefront of quantum computing but also highlight a broader industry shift. As organizations explore how to leverage quantum technology to complement AI and address challenges linked to power efficiency, the future of research and development looks promising.
