Google is enhancing its Google Drive platform with a new feature that simplifies video searches. Users can now access transcripts for videos uploaded to Drive. This addition makes finding specific quotes or sections within a video much easier.
To use the feature, simply click on Settings in the video player and select Transcript. A sidebar will appear, displaying the spoken text alongside time stamps. Additionally, users can utilize a search field to locate specific moments in the video quickly.
This update builds on a previous feature that provided automatically generated captions for videos. Captions must be enabled for transcripts to work. Users can create captions by right-clicking the video and selecting “Manage caption tracks” followed by “generate automatic captions.”
The feature is currently rolling out, and while it may take up to 15 days for everyone to access it, Google aims to streamline video content interaction. This improvement aligns with Google’s commitment to user-friendly technology in everyday tools. As the digital landscape evolves, such innovations enhance productivity for both personal and professional use.
