    Top Highlights

    1. New Launcher: Microsoft has launched Command Palette, the successor to PowerToys Run, offering an experience similar to Mac’s Spotlight for power users.

    2. Versatile Search Functionality: Users can search for apps, folders, files, perform calculations, and conduct web searches directly from the launcher without opening a browser.

    3. Extension Support: Command Palette allows users to add favorite app commands and features through extensions, with options to search for and create extensions via WinGet and the Microsoft Store.

    4. Easy Access and Customization: Accessible via Win + Alt + Space, users can customize settings like keyboard shortcuts and navigation options within the Command Palette.

Microsoft has unveiled its latest feature, the Command Palette, intended for power users. This tool replaces PowerToys Run and mirrors the functionality of Apple’s Spotlight. Users can now efficiently search for apps, folders, and individual files. Moreover, the Command Palette enables on-the-fly calculations right from the search bar.

Additionally, you can perform web searches without needing to open a browser. Simply type your query, and the results offer direct links to websites. This feature streamlines navigation and enhances productivity.

Microsoft also introduces extension support, allowing users to add commands specific to their favorite applications. Power users can explore extensions through WinGet and the Microsoft Store directly within the Command Palette. For those interested in customizing their experience, there’s an option to create projects for new extensions, fostering creativity and innovation.

Accessing the Command Palette is easy—just press Win + Alt + Space. The pop-up window presents various actions, along with access to settings for personal customization. Users can adjust keyboard shortcuts, program back navigation, and set list items to activate with a single click.

This launch comes ahead of the Build developer conference, showcasing Microsoft’s commitment to enhancing user experience. The Command Palette promises to transform the way users interact with their machines, driving productivity in both personal and professional settings. By simplifying tasks, it enhances workflow and encourages a more efficient digital environment.
