    Top Highlights

    1. INPUT Global’s Voice Index scores founders’ visibility from 0 to 100 using a published formula.
    2. The score multiplies logarithmic reach on platforms by a quality multiplier from five signals.
    3. The methodology is transparent but has structural inconsistencies and potential biases.
    4. Industry values measurable branding metrics, despite concerns over score verification and influence.

The Voice Index: A New Way to Measure a Founder’s Reach

INPUT Global launched a new tool called the Voice Index, designed to measure a founder’s personal brand. It assigns a score from 0 to 100, showing how far their words travel. This score combines two main factors: reach and quality. Reach is based on how many people see the founder’s posts. It uses a logarithmic scale, so each tenfold increase makes a similar score jump. For example, 12,500 views on X score 40, while 100,000 views score closer to 70. The model ignores followers and averages, focusing instead on median views to reduce luck’s impact. Quality adjusts the score based on five signals, such as presence, resonance, and authority. These signals have specific weights, and small changes can slightly boost or lower the final score.

The Voice Index is unusual because it openly shares its formula. Most branding tools keep their methods secret. By making the calculation public, INPUT Global challenges the norm and provides transparency. However, the model has its flaws. The January and July versions differ in structure, which makes them hard to compare. Also, the score is developed, calculated, and sold by the same agency, raising questions about objectivity. Paid placements count toward quality, even though the company claims buying influence shouldn’t boost scores. These issues reveal that, while the system offers a measurable way to assess branding, it still faces trust and consistency challenges.

Understanding the Practical Value of a Number on a Founder’s Voice

The Voice Index aims to make personal branding more measurable. Many agencies and researchers agree on the need for clear data. Founders often rely on likes, conference praise, or instinct. These are all vague signals. A number can provide clarity, showing where a founder stands and what needs improvement. It helps identify bottlenecks and track progress over time. Publishing the bands and examples allows for comparison and debate, making the score more meaningful.

Yet some question the practicality of such a score. It simplifies a complex process into a single number. Branding involves many subjective factors that a formula cannot fully capture. Also, relying on a proprietary method created by one agency can limit trust. Without independent verification, the score might not accurately reflect true influence or reach. For technology adoption, the system offers a promising step toward standardization, but it requires wider acceptance and validation. The overall value of putting a number on a founder’s voice depends on continuous refinement and external scrutiny.
