    Top Highlights

    1. New Incentive Launch: Epic Games is offering 20% back in Epic Rewards for in-app purchases made with its payment system in Fortnite, Rocket League, and Fall Guys, effective immediately.

    2. Broader Applicability: The 20% reward applies not just on the App Store, but also on PC, Android, and the web, with rewards credited 14 days post-purchase.

    3. Legal Victory for Epic: This incentive follows a federal court ruling that found Apple in violation of a previous 2021 injunction, which required them to allow developers to direct users to alternative payment options.

    4. Apple’s Anticompetitive Practices: The ruling criticized Apple for imposing reduced commissions while dissuading users from third-party payment systems, highlighting its "anticompetitive" behavior in the marketplace.

Epic Launches Reward Program to Compete with App Store

Epic Games is rolling out an exciting program designed to attract users away from the App Store. Starting today, players will earn 20 percent back in Epic Rewards when they make in-app purchases using Epic’s payment system. This offer applies to popular games like Fortnite, Rocket League, and Fall Guys.

Notably, this incentive isn’t just for Apple users. Individuals on PC, Android, and the web can also enjoy the same rewards. The balance from your purchases will arrive within 14 days. You can redeem these rewards in Epic’s games or through the Epic Games Store.

This initiative follows a recent legal victory for Epic. A federal district judge ruled that Apple violated a previous injunction. Specifically, the ruling emphasized that Apple must allow developers to direct users to alternative payment systems. Previously, Apple imposed a steep 30 percent commission, which many viewed as excessively high. This change allows developers, including Epic, to offer better incentives to consumers.

Additionally, PC gamers buying from Epic’s Store can also receive 20 percent back on all purchases. However, this particular reward will only be available until August 31.

Epic’s swift action showcases its commitment to providing value to its users. By introducing this rewards program, it aims to enhance customer loyalty while promoting competition in the gaming market. Furthermore, this shift might inspire other developers to seek alternative payment solutions, ultimately benefiting consumers in the long run.

With legal challenges reshaping the digital landscape, Epic sets a positive tone for future innovations in online gaming and purchases.
