Take-Two Pauses Switch 2 Port for Borderlands 4
Take-Two Interactive has decided to pause development on the Nintendo Switch 2 port of Borderlands 4. The company shared this information during its Q3 2026 earnings presentation. Originally, the port was set to release on October 3, 2025, just weeks after the game’s launch on other platforms.
The delay comes as Take-Two aims to improve post-launch quality. The company emphasized the importance of delivering outstanding content. “We made the difficult decision to pause development on that SKU,” Take-Two told Variety. The focus now shifts to optimizing the game for existing platforms, while maintaining close collaboration with Nintendo.
Gearbox, the game’s developer, initially cited the need for “additional development and polish time.” The goal was to better integrate cross-save features for players. Interestingly, the Switch 2 port appeared on the title’s post-release roadmap only as “TBA” prior to its indefinite delay.
Despite the setback for Borderlands 4, Take-Two remains optimistic about future releases. The upcoming PGA Tour 2K25 and WWE 2K26 titles promise more content for Switch players. Furthermore, the much-anticipated Grand Theft Auto VI, set to release on November 19, 2026, continues to generate excitement.
With the gaming landscape evolving, Take-Two’s pause on the Switch 2 port highlights the importance of quality over haste. Gamers can look forward to evolving titles that meet higher standards in gameplay and innovation, contributing positively to the gaming community’s experience.
