    Though heel-first walking works well for humans, the hard surfaces of today’s world might challenge our bodies more. Paved roads and hard floors can increase impact, possibly affecting joint health over time. Still, walking remains a healthy activity suited to us, despite the high impact. Future studies may explore how changing our walking style could benefit long-term health or adapt to new environments. Overall, a tiny shift in foot placement continues to shape our success as a traveling species.
