Apple has taken action against the iTorrent app, a popular BitTorrent client developed by Daniil “XITRIX” Vinogradov. This app was available through AltStore PAL, a well-known third-party iOS app store in Europe. With the EU’s Digital Markets Act in effect, Apple must allow app downloads from third-party sources. However, the company recently revoked Vinogradov’s ability to distribute his app.
Although Apple has a history of banning torrent clients on iOS in the U.S., the rationale for this latest move remains unclear. Vinogradov expressed his confusion, stating, “I still have no idea if it was my fault or Apple’s.” He also noted that Apple provided only a generic message without specific details on the issue.
Shane Gill, co-founder of AltStore PAL, confirmed ongoing communication with Apple. “We’ve told them what’s going wrong, and they said they’re looking into it,” he explained, although responses have lacked clarity.
