    Focus on Cost-Effective and Locally Made Hardware

    Developing hardware for robots is expensive. Ati Robotics keeps costs low by doing research and development in Bangalore, India. They benefit from the area’s growing electric vehicle industry. Many vehicle parts, which are reliable and produced in large quantities, are used in their robots. This helps them create affordable yet high-quality machines. Their robots include tuggers and pallet movers that carry heavy loads in warehouses. These are in use at hundreds of sites, serving more than 50 clients. Their focus on local parts and design helps them stay competitive despite the global trade restrictions.

    Balancing Performance and Independence

    While some parts of Ati’s robots come from China, the company is working to reduce this dependence. For example, the full arms of their humanoid robots are made in India. They source certain motors and actuators locally, but they also use components from Japan and South Korea. If needed, they can switch suppliers easily. This flexibility allows Ati to maintain performance and price efficiency. Their strategy highlights how a robotics company can innovate by balancing worldwide parts sourcing with local manufacturing. It also shows that building robots with fewer Chinese parts is possible without sacrificing quality.
