LG’s new approach includes two blue layers. This spreads electrical current across more emitters, which makes each one work less hard. The result could be brighter screens and longer-lasting panels.
Apple has asked LG and Samsung to develop 24-inch panels that reach 600 nits of brightness at a high pixel density. But the main focus appears to be durability. For now, the technology still needs a few more years to reach mass production. If LG and Samsung meet their targets, the first OLED iMac might appear around 2029.
