NASA to Conduct NCAA Flyover, Engage Fans at University of Alabama
NASA will bring an aviation display and public exhibits to Tuscaloosa on Saturday, Oct. 24, as part of the agency’s Inspiration Tour. The visit will include a flyover during the University of Alabama’s football game against Texas A&M.
NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman will pilot one of three F-5 fighter jets in the flyover. The demonstration will highlight NASA’s work in aeronautics and its ongoing efforts to advance aviation technology.
NASA Experience Zone open to the public
Before the game, visitors can stop at the NASA Experience Zone on Champions Lane. Supported by NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama, the zone will be open from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. CDT. No game ticket is required.
NASA team members will be on hand to discuss the people and technologies behind the agency’s aeronautics and space exploration work. Displays will include an inflatable Space Launch System rocket and information about the Starship and Blue Moon human landing systems. Visitors also can learn about NASA internships and take photos with exhibits.
The exhibits offer a public look at plans and technologies connected to NASA’s missions. They can introduce visitors to how systems such as rockets and human landing vehicles are designed for specific tasks. The displays are educational; they do not, by themselves, demonstrate how these technologies will perform in future missions or how practical they may be for broader use.
NASA media representatives are invited to attend a media opportunity with Isaacman at 11 a.m. CDT at the Experience Zone. Media members should confirm by noon Friday, Oct. 23, with Lance D. Davis at lance.d.davis@nasa.gov to receive instructions and additional details.
Inspiration Tour to conclude with MAX POWER
The Inspiration Tour visits communities across the country to connect NASA with academic, industry and public-sector organizations, as well as the people and technologies that support U.S. leadership in space.
The tour will culminate in MAX POWER, a public exposition of American air and space innovation on Saturday, Nov. 7, and Sunday, Nov. 8, at and near NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida. Held in honor of the nation’s 250th anniversary, the family-friendly event will showcase aircraft, spacecraft, autonomous vehicles and other technologies shaping transportation in the air and space.
