NASA to Conduct Flyover, Engage NFL Fans at MetLife Stadium
NASA is bringing its inspiration tour directly to football fans at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. On Sunday, October 11, the agency will kick off the game between the New York Jets and Cleveland Browns with a spectacular flyover. NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman will pilot one of three F-5 fighter jets as part of this exciting event, marking a unique blend of space exploration and sports entertainment.
The Flyover and Fan Engagement Activities
The flyover is part of NASA’s ongoing Inspiration Tour, which uses aerial displays to connect the public with the agency’s missions. Before the game begins, NASA team members will be stationed at the agency’s Experience Zone, located at the Jets Tailgate Zone outside the stadium. From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. EDT, fans can visit the zone to learn about NASA’s efforts to return humans to the Moon through the Artemis program. They can also engage with interactive games and take photos with a large inflatable Space Launch System (SLS) rocket. This hands-on setup offers fans a closer look at the space agency’s latest technologies and future missions.
NASA officials will also offer limited media interviews during the game. To arrange interviews with Jared Isaacman or other NASA representatives, media outlets should contact Camille Gallo at camille.m.gallo@nasa.gov or 202-531-8057. The event aims to inspire the next generation of scientists, engineers, and explorers by showcasing NASA’s ongoing contributions to space and technology.
Connecting People, Space, and Innovation
The Inspiration Tour travels across the United States, bringing together academic, industry, and public sector partners. Its goal is to highlight NASA’s role in driving American leadership in space and technology. The tour will culminate in a public exposition called MAX POWER, scheduled for Nov. 7 and 8 at Kennedy Space Center in Florida. This family-friendly event celebrates America’s 250th anniversary with displays of next-generation aircraft, spacecraft, autonomous vehicles, and innovative transportation technologies. Visitors will have the opportunity to see the cutting-edge tools that will shape the future of air and space travel.
