The Pebble Round 2 Is Here, Fixing Major Flaws from the Original

The Pebble Round 2 debuted today, creating buzz among smartwatch enthusiasts. This new model serves as a spiritual successor to the Pebble Time Round, introduced in 2015. Notably, the Round 2 features a larger 1.3-inch display, enhancing visibility significantly. Moreover, it boasts thinner bezels, providing a modern look that appeals to many users.

Transitioning to battery life, the Round 2 shines with a remarkable 10 to 14 days per charge. In comparison, its predecessor lasted merely two days. This improvement highlights advancements in battery technology, making daily use more convenient.

Another key upgrade comes in the form of enhanced display quality. The Round 2’s screen has a resolution of 260 x 260, doubling the sharpness of the original. Additionally, the optically bonded display improves viewing angles, creating a more enjoyable user experience.

Despite these upgrades, the Pebble Round 2 retains an ultra-slim profile at 8.1mm, making it lighter than many competitors, such as the Pixel Watch 4 and the Garmin Venu 4. The watch features a stainless steel case, four navigation buttons, and maintains its iconic e-paper touchscreen.

For fitness enthusiasts, the Pebble Round 2 includes step and sleep tracking along with a compass. However, the absence of a heart rate monitor and speaker may disappoint some potential buyers.

Offering versatility, the Round 2 comes in two sizes—20mm and 14mm—and is available in black, silver, and gold finishes. Pre-orders start today at $199, with shipping scheduled for May. For those who pre-ordered the Pebble Time 2, Pebble allows switching to the Round 2 with a price adjustment.

Overall, the Pebble Round 2 holds promise with its modern design and extended battery life, appealing to both longtime fans and newcomers alike.
