    Summary Points

    1. Launch Details: Samsung’s XR device, officially named “Samsung Galaxy XR,” is expected to launch later this fall, following the announcement of Android XR in 2024.

    2. Design Features: The headset, inspired by products like the Meta Quest Pro and Apple Vision Pro, will include an adjustable headband, passthrough capabilities, and an external battery pack.

    3. Technical Specs: Powered by the Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 chip, the Galaxy XR will feature dual high-resolution 4K micro-OLED screens and around two hours of battery life, weighing 545 grams.

    4. Controller Accessories: Samsung plans to release two controller accessories resembling Meta’s Touch Plus controllers, enhancing interaction through voice commands and eye/hand tracking.

Samsung is gearing up to launch its much-anticipated Galaxy XR headset, formerly known as Project Moohan. After teasing its ambitions earlier this year, the tech giant has finally confirmed vital details about the device. Recently, a leak from Android Headlines shed light on specifications and accessory options.

The Galaxy XR blends features from the discontinued Meta Quest Pro and Apple Vision Pro. With an adjustable headband and primarily acting as passthrough goggles, this headset allows users to interact with the real world seamlessly. Moreover, it supports an external battery pack, enhancing mobility.

Samsung has designed the headset for versatility. Users can issue voice commands and track movements using built-in microphones and cameras. Additionally, it will come with two new controller accessories reminiscent of Meta’s Touch Plus controllers. This combination aims to enhance the user experience.

Powering the Galaxy XR is the Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 chip. This processor supports an optimized version of Android XR, promising a smooth and responsive interface. Early glimpses show an app grid filled with familiar tools like a browser and camera apps. Samsung’s approach reflects a user-friendly design, steering clear of over-complicated software.

Notably, the headset features a high-resolution 4K micro-OLED screen in each eye. This setup elevates visual clarity, similar to the Apple Vision Pro. Battery life comes in at approximately two hours, which is acceptable for immersive experiences. Furthermore, the Galaxy XR is lightweight, weighing 545 grams compared to its competitors.

While Samsung has yet to announce a release date or pricing, rumors suggest it could cost between 2,500,000 to 4,000,000 Korean won, translating to approximately $1,700 to $2,800. As anticipation builds, the tech community eagerly awaits more announcements from Samsung.

The Galaxy XR is not just a gadget; it represents a leap toward smart living. As urban areas evolve, such technology could enhance daily life and foster urban innovation, making cities smarter and more responsive to their citizens’ needs.
