    Quick Takeaways

    1. Program Discontinuation: Sony is ending its PlayStation Stars loyalty program, effective immediately for new sign-ups, with full shutdown set for November 2.

    2. Current Benefits: Existing members can still earn points and digital collectibles until July 23, after which all rewards will be inactive.

    3. Redemption Beyond Closure: Members who maintain their membership until November 2 can redeem points afterward, as long as they haven’t expired.

    4. Future Plans: Sony aims to refocus its rewards strategy, expressing gratitude to players and hinting at new loyalty opportunities in the future.

Sony has announced it will discontinue the PlayStation Stars loyalty program. As of today, new sign-ups are no longer accepted. If current members decide to cancel their membership, they cannot rejoin the program.

Members can continue to earn points and digital collectibles until July 23 at 9:59 PM ET. After that date, all campaigns and rewards will end. The program will officially shut down on November 2. However, if members hold on to their membership until then, they can still redeem points, as long as those points haven’t expired.

Launched in 2022, PlayStation Stars allowed players to earn points by playing games and making purchases on the PlayStation Store. Members could use these points for wallet funds or select store products.

In a statement on the PlayStation Blog, Sony thanked users for their support since its inception. The company plans to “refocus” its approach to rewards but has not yet detailed what that will look like in the future. Sony aims to explore new ways to enhance its loyalty programs while maintaining community engagement through various activities.

While this marks the end of PlayStation Stars, it opens the door for future innovations in customer engagement. Players may look forward to new and exciting rewards that better align with their gaming experiences. As the gaming landscape evolves, so too must the strategies companies use to connect with their audiences.
