    1. Enhanced Specs for Gamers: The ASUS XREAL R1 AR smartglasses feature dual micro-OLED displays with a resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 per eye, and a remarkable 240Hz refresh rate, providing a smoother gaming experience.

    2. Versatile Connectivity: The included ROG Control Dock allows easy switching between devices with HDMI and USB-C ports, and the glasses can connect directly to gaming handhelds for on-the-go use.

    3. Lightweight and Adaptive Design: Weighing only 91 grams and equipped with electrochromic lenses, the R1s are comfortable and offer customizable tinting for various environments.

    4. Large Virtual Screen Creation: Despite a 57-degree FOV, the R1s can project a massive 171-inch virtual screen at four meters, making them a compelling alternative to traditional portable monitors.

ASUS and XREAL Unveil ROG XREAL R1 Smartglasses at CES 2026

At CES 2026, ASUS and XREAL launched the ROG XREAL R1 AR smartglasses, promising gamers a significant upgrade. First, these glasses boost the refresh rate to an impressive 240Hz. Typically, gaming smartglasses max out at 120Hz, making this enhancement a noteworthy development for serious gamers.

In addition, the R1s come with the ROG Control Dock. This compact hub features two HDMI 2.0 jacks and one DisplayPort 1.4 connector. Users can easily switch between devices, such as consoles and PCs, with just one touch. Plus, the glasses connect directly via USB-C to compatible gaming handhelds, offering flexibility for gamers on the go.

Weighing only 91 grams, the R1s remain lightweight, similar to the previous model. Notably, they include electrochromic lenses, allowing users to control light entry with a simple button press. This feature enhances comfort in varied environments.

While the 57-degree field of view (FOV) may seem limited, it can display a massive 171-inch virtual screen from just four meters away. Gamers can appreciate crisp visuals and responsive gameplay, although the 240Hz capability requires compatible hardware.

Although pricing and release dates remain unannounced, industry expectations suggest the R1s may be priced similarly to the XREAL One Pro, currently around $649. This collaboration between ASUS and XREAL signals a promising future for gaming technology and the push for innovation in smart devices.
