    Fast Facts

    1. Google is planning to extend the Gemini Deep Research feature, currently exclusive to Gemini Advanced users, to all users soon, based on new code found in the latest app beta.
    2. The Deep Research tool allows in-depth, real-time research on almost any topic and may be offered in a "freemium" version for regular users, albeit with limitations.
    3. Recent updates have already made Gemini’s conversational and file analysis capabilities available to all, enhancing the free tier significantly.
    4. The introduction of a freemium Deep Research tool could encourage more users to upgrade to a Gemini Advanced subscription for full access.

Google appears ready to enhance the capabilities of its Gemini app for all users. Recent findings from an APK teardown hint at the possible introduction of Gemini’s Deep Research feature to the free tier. Currently, this tool allows in-depth research on nearly any subject, but it only serves Gemini Advanced subscribers.

Over recent months, Google has made strides to improve the free version of Gemini. Notably, last October, the company introduced Gemini Live, a conversational mode, to everyone. More recently, the file analysis feature, previously a paid option, became accessible without a subscription.

This latest development suggests that Google may broaden access to the Deep Research tool. Strings found in the beta version of the Google app indicate that a “freemium” version could roll out soon. However, users should expect some limitations compared to what Gemini Advanced subscribers experience.

Despite these restrictions, the Deep Research feature could be immensely beneficial for casual users. It empowers them to conduct thorough research without committing to a paid subscription. Additionally, this move may entice some users to opt for a Gemini Advanced subscription to access the complete range of features.

In the ever-evolving tech landscape, such innovations contribute to a richer user experience. These enhancements underline Google’s commitment to making advanced tools more accessible, thus promoting informed decision-making and exploration for users at all levels.
