    Top Highlights

    1. Samsung Messages will cease support soon, prompting users to switch to Google Messages, which is gradually adding features like chat backgrounds and customized themes.
    2. Fans appreciate Samsung Messages’ extensive chat customization and folder organization features, which Google Messages currently lacks but may implement in future updates.
    3. Key features users will miss include chat organization via folders, the “alert when phone picked up” notification, and automatic deletion of old texts, highlighting gaps in Google Messages’ capabilities.
    4. The shutdown reduces Android’s competitive messaging options, leaving Google Messages as the primary RCS-based messaging app, potentially limiting messaging diversity on the platform.

    Customized Chats and Personal Touches

Samsung Messages offers users a level of personalization that many appreciate. For instance, you can manually select chat colors and even set images as chat backgrounds. These options make messaging feel more fun and tailored to your style. While Google Messages currently only lets you edit chat colors, there’s promise for more customization. Recent beta versions hint that Google might add background customization soon. If this happens, switching may be less difficult, and your chats can retain some personal flair. For many users, the ability to customize helps keep conversations engaging and expressive.

    Organizing Conversations Made Easy

Another popular feature in Samsung Messages is creating folders for different chat groups. This setup helps keep your messages organized. You can separate work chats from family or hobby groups. In contrast, Google Messages does not support folders. Instead, it filters spam into a separate view, which helps manage clutter but doesn’t group messages for easy browsing. Some users have expressed that better organization tools would improve their messaging experience. Having folders saves time and keeps conversations neat, especially for users with many active chats.

    Enhanced Notifications and Auto-Deletion

Samsung Messages also includes handy features like ‘alert when phone picked up,’ which causes the device to vibrate when you lift it with missed calls or unread messages. Unfortunately, Google Messages does not support this yet. Additionally, Samsung’s app automatically deletes old messages after reaching a certain number. This keeps chats from becoming unmanageable. Google Messages, however, lacks this auto-delete option, requiring manual removal of messages. For users who value tidiness, these features help maintain a clean messaging space. They also add convenience, reducing the clutter of forgotten messages and helping keep notifications relevant.
